Problema grave

Tengo este error:

"
No se ha podido inicializar la información de los paquetes

Ha ocurrido un problema imposible de corregir cuando se inicializaba la información de los paquetes.

Por favor, informe de ésto como un fallo en el paquete «update-manager» e incluya el siguiente mensaje de error:

'E:Tipo '“deb' desconocido en la línea 56 de lista de fuentes /etc/apt/sources.list, E:No se pudieron leer las listas de fuentes.'
"
No me deja usar Synaptic ni añadir o quitar... se que tengo que corregir un error de la linea 56 del sorces.list, el problema es q.ue no me deja guardarlo, dice que no tiene permisos, y lo raro es que soy el único usuario de la máquina. Eh intentado con "sudo password root" y me aparece "command not found".

Osea, hasta ahí 2 problemas.

Poniendo "SU" me pide un pass, supongo que es la de root que no eh asignado, porque la de usuario común no me anda y en blanco tampoco. Y poniendo Passwd que es para poner un password tampoco me funciona. Estoy jodido.

Agradecería mucho si alguien me pudiera ayudar, ya no se que hacer.

me imagino que usas ubuntu tonses ejecuta esto en una terminal o consola para ver que pasa

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list

te pedira password de usuario, lo tecleas y presionas enter

si todo sale bien te saldra una ventana con un texto...ese texto le das copiar y lo pones aqui.

El problema era el último con las comillas. Muchas gracias, como lo abrí desde la terminal ahora si me dejó modificarlo, tengo que aprender bastante de la terminal de linux todavía.
